Sometimes the ups and downs of life can be managed within our families, with friends or with caring community around us. But at some point, many people find they need or can benefit from the extra support provided by a trained counselor. As someone who has been working in the social service field for over 25 years, it’s a privilege to come alongside those who are ready to take that step, and provide a safe, comfortable atmosphere to problem solve together.

Throughout my years working in foster care/adoption agencies, churches, and in private practices, I have gained a passion for seeing families strengthened. Parenting is a tough job, and as a play therapist with children, I find it important to include parents in the counseling process. I focus on giving them tools to implement at home to meet their child’s needs and nurture their relationship with one another. I have experience working with adoption, trauma, ADHD, anxiety disorders, and other challenges children, teens, and families are facing.

In addition to children and teens, I have specialized in working with women on issues such as relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, boundaries, self-worth and childhood trauma. I have been trained extensively in play therapy, including sand tray, cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as attachment theory and believe that helping people connect relationally brings an increased satisfaction in life. I especially love including a Christian faith perspective if that is important to the person.

Earning my B.A. in psychology at Huntington University, as well as my masters in social work at IUPUI have provided me with a well-rounded education. I am certified as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and enjoy providing supervision to interns, and those pursuing state licensure or play therapy certification.
